When Europeans first arrived in Puget Sound they found a rich abundance of resources that had sustained native populations for thousands of years.How many of people out there know, right now what is happening to the Puget Sound. The Sound is our source of wealth, power, and food. It really shows the world how much beauty and splendor the state of Washington has. But if we continue to use the poisons, that are supposed to help us, then how are we going to live without the Orcas(Killer whales), the Seals, or the cute little otters? Because they all depend on fish such as salmon, steelhead, and many others to survive, and we also depend on these fish. 10 years ago the Snohomish River ran with more than 3 million salmon a year! Now there are about only 30,000 a year. Because of all these pollutions.

- Dog and cat poop left behind.
- Car washes that are done on the pavement instead of the grass.
- Water left running like when shaving brushing your teeth.
- Instead of barriers around the sound we should make beaches instead.
- Garbage thrown into the Sound.
- Seal nets left behind.
- Companies dump their sewage and other chemicals into the Sound by tons of gallons a month.
These things are small matters if only a few people don't do it. But now imagine 5-6 million people a year! Researchers say that if we continue at the pace we are at now then, we wont have the Sound in the next 10-15 years. So please do your part to help save the Puget Sound by not doing the things above.
